When I click on a file to view/download, I receive a message stating I don't have permissions to save the file $myusername in the folder Users.
I click ok and then it crashes.

    Hi Carl,

sorry this is happening. I've never heard of this problem before but I think I may know what's happening.

In Propane's preferences window, under the "General" tab, there's a setting for "Save downloaded files to:". Can you please make sure that's set to a directory that exists and that you have permissions for.

If you think that the current setting is pointing to a directory that exists, can you please run the following two commands from within Terminal and paste the results back here:

    ls -ld `defaults read com.protocool.Propane downloadsFolder`
    id

    Thanks, Trev

    Thank you very much Trevor.
My settings were pointing my downloads to be save to my Desktop. I changed
to another directory and then back to my desktop and all seems well.
    Much appreciated!

    Hi Carl,

glad to know that it's stopped crashing.

I'm trying to understand how it might have gotten into that situation.

About the only thing I can think of is that you've recently received a new Mac and you used migration assistant (or manually copied your home folder) or you're using some sort of syncing solution (mobileMe, dropbox etc) to sync different macs together.

Is that what's going on here? Sorry to pry, but I'd like to fully understand the scope of the crash conditions.

Actually I just noticed this after updating to the newest version (Version
    1.1.0 (1.1.0.03c3209)) this morning.

I'm not using any syncing software other than rsync though I don't believe
that changed any links or permissions.
To test this I just ran my rsync script which syncs my home directory and
Propane seems to be happy with everything.

    Hope this helps.

    Okay,

    thanks Carl, that helps.

Let me know if the problem crops up again, I've added a todo item for double-checking the downloads location.

    Regards, Trev
