Growl doesn't work for me

I've noticed that I've never gotten a growl notification from Propane.

I have growl installed and running, and haven't messed with the settings.

Is there anything specific I need to do to get them to work?

going to re-summarize the rules for growl notifications here in case anyone else wonders about it:

If someone says your name at the beginning of a message then you will get notified. The way you get notified is as follows:

If the room where your name was spoken is the currently selected tab and Propane is the active application then the message will display a momentary yellow highlight (the yellow-fade-technique).

If the room where your name was spoken is not the current room or if Propane is not the active application then Propane will play the 'tink' sound and (if growl is installed) it will notify you via growl.

There's already a couple of other issues open where people want to configure the notification rules - I'm working on that soon.

Yep, no love here. I've enabled all alerts and I can't get Growl to see Propane at all.

    Hi George,

Alerts and notifications have been rock-solid for some time now so this is a bit surprising.

Assuming you've read the information above (i.e. you only get notified for chats that are not currently selected or Propane is not the active application), are the unread counters being incremented and are sounds being played?

Also, I just noticed that a new version of Growl was recently released (which I haven't tested against) - what version are you using?

    Regards, Trev

I'm using the most recent version of Growl.
I get an audible notification from Propane but no visual from growl

    Hi again George,

I just installed the latest growl and it is behaving correctly for me here so I have to ask:

(If you're replying by email, don't put your answers inline below, they get stripped by Tender and I won't get to see your answers. Put your response at the top of your email...)

    • What version of OSX are you using?
    • is Growl running? (you can see from the pref-pane)
    • are other applications sending growls okay?
    • does Propane appear in the list of applications in Growl and is it enabled?
    • are the individual notifications all enabled for Propane in the Growl prefPane?
    • In Propane's notification preferences are the "Display Growl Notification" checkboxes both checked and enabled?
    • Propane's Room->"Edit Room Notification Settings" shows any overrides you may have for the current chat room - is the "Use the default Notification Settings" checkbox checked on both tabs?

Thanks for helping me track this down.

    Regards, Trev
