Propane "stalls" on guest access

Propane kind of stalls when someone turns on/off guest access in a room. I need to reload the channel by hand (right click) to see the recent messages. This is very annoying since I constantly miss important conversation in our company room.

    Hi Gilbert,

I'm really sorry it's taken so long to get back to you - I took the family to Desolation Sound for a couple of days and there was absolutely no 3g/edge coverage where we were.

Anyhow, I haven't been able to replicate the stalling issue and it's not something I've heard complaints of.

In theory, there's nothing about turning on/off guest access that should be affecting Propane.

Can you please check and see if there are any messages from Propane - if so, please copy and paste them in a reply here.

As I write this, I have to wonder... the name of your campfire host doesn't end in '-bc' does it? Such as 'propane-bc' for example?

Also, you've said it happens when guest access it turned on/off - do you see the "so and so turned off guest access" message before it stalls or do you only see that after you right-click-reload?

Do any of your colleagues use Propane and if so, do they experience the same issue? Is this a new behavior - i.e. did it used to work fine but it started acting up after an upgrade or a specific date? Sorry - I know it sounds like I'm grasping at straws but this really is a new one and it doesn't make sense...

    Regards, Trev

    Thanks for your reply Trevor.

It seems like I went on a short trip now, so my answer is delayed :)

You are right, our account ends in "-bc" and I don't see the
"...turned off guest access" message, it just stalls before.

I always had the problem right after I started using Propane, I just
hoped it would be fixed by now :)

I will reproduce the issue tomorrow when I get back to work, I keep
    you posted.

    Hi again Gilbert,

okay, this is (sorta) good news. The '-bc' hunch points to the culprit.

Any campfire hostname that ends in '-bc' is for basecamp/campfire integration and the interface for any -bc host seems tied to guest access to rooms even if you've got a valid login.

You can replicate your problem by accessing your '-bc' host in Safari. It will do the same thing (stop receiving messages after someone turns on/off guest access).

The way to fix it is to delete the '-bc' host and add the host again without the '-bc' suffix. eg: propane-bc becomes propane

Everything should just work - but if it doesn't, do let me know.

    Regards, Trev
