I took your tip about changing cf_chat.css in the Resources directory in Propane.app, but for whatever reason it's not showing up.

  1. I make a change to cf_chat.css.
  2. I restart Propane.
  3. Nothing changes.

The file is definitely edited -- I've verified that with cat. The CSS changes I'm making are definitely visible -- I started out trying to bump up the font size, then using mattly's theme, then setting the background to blue and making everything blink and such.

Nothing's showing up.

I've also tried reloading via the chat room's context menu. Nada.

My co-workers aren't having this problem, and it's making me insecure (and my eyes hurt).

    Hrm...

wait a second - did you change ~/Library/Application Support/Propane/styles/cf_chat.css? Because you said "Resources" and that's where the pristine "do not touch" version of the css files live (in the app bundle).

So which is it? If it's from the app's bundle then 3 things need to happen:

1 - you should probably delete and re-install Propane from the zip file so you get back your pristine versions of those files.

2 - you should apply your changes to the files in app-support (as above)

3 - you need to tell me where you got the info to edit it in Resources - because that info needs to be changed super fast :-P

OTOH - if you actually are editing the ones in app-support with no effect then you're the first ever with that problem - and we should probably hook up in a CF room or IRC so I can bounce questions off you in real-time.

    Let me know.

Oh and sorry for the late reply - you (and some others) got flagged as spam by akismet - technoweenie says he's got that sorted now.

    Regards, Trev

    So, yeah.

Changing ~/Library/Application Support/Propane/styles/cf_chat.css totally works, and this is why I shouldn't be given new toys on 3 hours of sleep.

    False alarm. As you were.
