License data recovery

Hi there,

I'm switching to a clean mac install and need to get my license info again. It would be nice if it were accessible from the preferences to make switching easier than using migration assistant.

    Not an immediate solution, but as a rule, I use 1Password to track license keys and such precisely in case recovery of a license key is difficult.

    I usually do however my old laptop died before I had a chance to get it out.

    Is there a method to recover it from a backup or can I get it via email?

    Hi Chris,

    Sorry. I thought you were suggesting a feature in response to having to use the migration assistant to get the license onto your new machine. (I'm looking at ways to improve that experience)

    Are you saying that you haven't been able to retrieve the license?

    I don't seem to have the ability to retrieve it. Not really sure where to look though. Bought it in 2011 and didn't keep the email in my mailbox.
